KIDS ORBIT THE SOLAR SYSTEM AS PLANETS
What better way could there be to learn the Solar System than to perform a living Solar System by the children?  Drawing the sun, and the orbits of all nine planets on the blacktop in the school yard, the children each took a planet in hand and walked their planet's respective orbit around the sun - Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto were revolving around the Sun,  with a couple of comets also orbiting as they would. We also have an annual family class trip at the William Miller Sperry Observatory at Union County College in Cranford.
